Affiliate Marketing Case Study Week 2

Smart Online Journey contains affiliate links and is a member of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you make a purchase using one of these affiliate links, I may receive compensation at no extra cost to you. See my Disclaimer to learn more.

Week 2 of the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp was all about interaction – moving beyond setup and starting to engage with potential readers and fellow members.
This week introduced the idea of “vibe coding,” which (in plain English) is simply finding fun, personality-driven ways to attract your ideal audience. I had no clue what this was going into Week 2, so stay tuned on that! I also began experimenting with quiz funnels, shared content across platforms, and refined some of my site’s structure to support long-term growth.

Official Week 2 Task List

  • Explore the concept of vibe coding and brainstorm entrance-point ideas for Wealthy Affiliate promotions.
  • Experiment with at least one vibe-coding or survey-style platform (e.g., Lovable).
  • Share at least one piece of content within WA and on social media.
  • Commit to creating at least one new post to build authority.
  • Try the bulk content-creation tool in SiteContent.
  • Review and polish the Wealthy Affiliate Review and publish it.
  • Comment authentically on at least 2–3 other WA member reviews.
  • Set up and test tracking links for affiliate promotions.
  • Experiment with different website themes and finalize one.
  • Use SiteComments to request feedback on newly published posts.

How I Approached Each Task

Exploring Vibe Coding and Funnel Ideas

This boot camp was the first time I had ever heard of vibe coding. It was explained in a way that made it seem like we needed to build an app. And we were given two examples – each one made with an app called Lovable. To me, this simply seemed like an interactive quiz, so that’s what I explored. There are numerous interactive quiz makers out there, but at this point I wasn’t ready to sign up for one that was a paid service. I wasn’t completely sure whether we were asked to experiment with this and give ideas back to WA because they are going to build the app for us? It’s possible. And another reason I don’t want to commit to a paid quiz service right now.

I brainstormed several ideas before creating the “Are You Ready to Start Your Smart Online Journey?” quiz using Jotform. It’s short (just four questions) but gives visitors a fun, low-pressure way to discover their readiness level – and it works as a soft entry point to Wealthy Affiliate.

I embedded it on:

  • Its own dedicated Biz Readiness Quiz page
  • The sidebar
  • And even the homepage hero section

So far, it fits perfectly with my site’s tone – friendly, supportive, and approachable.

The quiz I built with Jotform needs some work if I keep it. For one thing, it has Jotform’s branding on it because I’m using their free service. So I will have to revisit this later.

Sharing and Engagement

I shared my updated Wealthy Affiliate Review post on my Smart Online Journey Facebook page to start building visibility outside the platform.
Inside WA, I commented on four other member reviews to build authentic engagement. It’s been a great way to stay connected and learn from others’ approaches.

Content Creation

I committed to writing at least one post – and actually completed two this week.
I also tested the bulk content creator in SiteContent to see how it handles affiliate-focused writing. It’s helpful for brainstorming, but I’ll likely continue creating original drafts and having Beatrix (my AI partner 😉) refine them for clarity and SEO. Why? no reason at this point other than I’ve developed a certain rythym with Beatrix and can create my posts much more quickly there.

For new Wealthy Affiliate members, I have no doubt that the bulk content creator will be an excellent tool for creating content quickly.

Tracking Links and Conversions

I added several affiliate tracking links this week but haven’t yet completed them across the entire site. I’m testing different placements to see which CTAs get the most clicks and will finish connecting the remaining links next week.

Unfortunately, I’m well known for not tracking anything on my sites! And I’m depending on this boot camp to cure me of that problem. It’s very difficult to go back and try to create tracking links once you’ve got a lot of content on your site. So, I need to harnass this before I get out of control here.

Website Theme and Design

I decided not to experiment with new themes. I’m sticking with Kadence, which offers clean layouts, flexible blocks, and strong performance. It suits my long-term plan for content clarity, and I already own Kadence Premium.

Site Comments and Feedback

I requested three comments on one of my newer posts using the SiteComments platform. The feedback was encouraging and reinforced that the site is starting to take shape with a clear direction.

Extra Credit Accomplishments

Sometimes I overachieve without meaning to 🙂 I did some extra work here this week that I consider Extra Credit.

  • Added a sidebar CTA promoting the quiz.
  • Posted several memes on the SOJ Facebook page for lighthearted engagement.
  • Created a monthly content calendar to manage post scheduling and indexing.
  • Thought about what my customer avatar was, and realized my pillar structure & categories weren’t quite right for the content I need to create for that customer.
  • Reworked my pillar structure, based upon my thoughts on the customer avatar.
  • Reworked the categories and a bit of the layout on the site, again, based on the changes I made in the pillar structure.

These refinements helped everything feel more cohesive and set a stronger foundation for future content.

Week 2 Recap: What I Actually Accomplished

  • Created and embedded the Biz Readiness Quiz across multiple areas of the site.
  • Updated and republished my Wealthy Affiliate Review.
  • Shared content on social media and within the WA community.
  • Commented on four other reviews.
  • Added some tracking links (but not all).
  • Published two new posts.
  • Built my first monthly content calendar for organization and indexing.
  • Finalized Kadence as my theme.

Next Week’s Focus

I’m not sure as of yet what the Week 3 tasks will be. But my first priority will be completing some Week 2 tasks and Extra Credit that I feel I didn’t complete all the way.

  • My intention was to publish at least 4 posts, and I only did 2. I will add the 2 I missed.
  • Continue refining the quiz funnel and test different placements.
  • Add at least two new posts under the Content & Traffic pillar to fill that category. This is a newly created category, and I need some content in it.
  • Expand the Wealthy Affiliate tracking link setup across all my pages and posts.
  • Create a description of my ideal customer avatar.
  • Keep engaging on the platform and social channels to build authority and reach.

Conclusion

Week 2 felt like moving from “setup mode” to “growth mode.” Smart Online Journey is starting to take shape as a real resource – not just a new site with a handful of posts. The quiz gave me a new tool to connect with readers, and the new pillar structure makes my content plan much clearer.

If you’re following along with my Affiliate Bootcamp or starting your own affiliate business, stick with it – Week 2 is where things start clicking into place.
